First Shrine Visit of the Year: Visiting the Famous “Cat Monk” Temple, Sennenji, in Osaka

Hello! I finally made my first shrine visit of the year.

I originally planned to go to Nara, but with snow in the weather forecast, I decided to change my plans and visit Sennenji, a temple in Osaka City that I had been curious about.

This temple is well-known among cat lovers as the home of the “Cat Monk.” When I arrived, I found it to be a cozy and peaceful place, with a charmingly modest atmosphere.

What surprised me was that the temple offers cashless options for both offerings and fortunes—such a modern touch!

I tried drawing a fortune slip, and to my delight, I got “Great Fortune”!💕

I also bought a lovely postcard and made my prayers before leaving the temple.

Unfortunately, I didn’t get to meet any of the famous cats, which was a bit of a letdown, but perhaps that’s just how it goes sometimes.

Wishing everyone a year of good health and happiness! Let’s make this a wonderful year together.

If you’ve had your own first shrine visit this year, I’d love to hear your story!
